Summer reading--what's in your TO READ pile?--Lenora Worth

Okay, we all love to lounge around (hopefully by some water)on a long hot summer day? That got me to wondering what everyone's reading these days. I have so many good books in my growing pile and I'm sure I'll read each and every one of them by summer's end!!! First off, the second book in my friend Judy Christie's adorable series set in Green, Louisiana. This one is "Goodness Gracious Green." Can't wait to settle down without interruption and delve into that one. Loved her first one--Gone to Green. Also, you need to grab a copy of Leann Ellis's cute, quirky "Once in a Blue Moon." Leann has the strangest sense of humor in her writing, but underneath it all she also gives us a wonderful spiritual message. Great reading. Fran McNabb's "On the Crest of a Wave" is an Avalon Historical that sounds wonderful. And Stephanie Grace Whitson's "Sixteen Brides" sounds very intriguing. Not to mention all the great Love Inspired Suspense books coming out during the summer. You can see our covers here on our side bar. With all these great books around, who has time to actually write one? Oh, I do. Must find time. I want mine out there with all the rest and believe it or not, I have seen a couple of my books being read on the beach. Okay, mostly by my friends, but still ... it's fun to know someone is spending down time with something I wrote. And speaking of beaches, please keep our beautiful Gulf of Mexico beaches in your prayers. We'll all lose something very precious if the oil spill in the gulf makes it to our beaches. And that's not just about being a tourist enjoying a swank high-rise condo. It's about people's lives and jobs, it's about the people who died on that oil rig and it's about protecting God's beautiful world. Wherever you are this summer, I hope you find some time to read a good book. And send up a prayer of thanks that we have that freedom.

Lenora,
I'm praying for containment of the oil spill and no harm to our beautiful southern shores! I love those waters and the coastal lands.

My book club's reading Sarah's Key, which I hope to start in a day or two. Currently reading Ruth Logan Hernes, Winter's End. Lovely. Also enjoying all the continuity books for the Protecting the Witnesses Love Inspired Suspense series! Way to go, girls!!!

I'm with you, Lenora. I have to get a Love Inspired Suspense written this summer, and then I'm going to enjoy some great books. On my list are two YA's from Meg Cabot, a favorite of mine. Then there's rereading the entire Anne of Green Gables series before I make my first trip to Prince Edward Island late in the summer. I also need to read The Blue Castle before I go. Add to that the LIS books I want to read, and I'm going to have a busy summer. Now if I can just arrange it so I can read these by the pool, getting a tan, I'll be golden (literally). :)

Happy reading, ladies!

Okay, Debby, I am telling you that you will ADORE Sarah's Key!! Break that baby out and fast! It's amazing and very well written.

Trying to catch up on the Protecting the Witnesses series. They're amazing!!!

I don't know why I indulged myself, but I just checked out three books from the library today *bad Hannah!* They are:

Blue Dahlia by Nora Roberts
Vision in White by Nora Roberts
Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger

Have wanted to read all of these for a long time!! Currently I'm rereading A Time for Dancing by Davida Wills Hurwin. If you haven't read this, you must. It's a YA book, I'd say, but you are almost guaranteed to cry!!

Just a side note, Lenora, if you ever want to know specifically what I'm reading, hop on over to my blog (hcprojectjournal.blogspot.com). Right now I'm doing a reading challenge, so I've got a bunch of titles posted.

Maybe I'll see you there sometime!! GREAT topic to post about. I could chat about books ALL the time *wink*

And I CAN'T wait for some of the LI books coming out this summer *grin*

I've read more this past month than I have all year. I took six books camping and read three of them. I read Don't Kill the Messager, Fashionably Late, an LIS (I don't remember the name but it was a cop heroine, cop hero and he stopped being a cop and became a private investigator and now both he and his ex-fiance are looking for a gold star serial killer). Then, I started a Robin Carr.

My goal is to read at least three novels for pleasure this summer (hard to do between writing my own and editing two or three full-length novels each month as a freelancer). The three I really want to read (finish) are:
*Love is Monumental by Annalisa Daughety

*Sixteen Brides by Stephanie Grace Whitson

*Powers by John Olson

Just below those on the TBR pile are Love on a Dime by Cara Lynn James and The Bridegrooms by Allison Pittman.

And then there's Linda Windsor's new medieval, The Healer . . . so many good books, so little time!

Storms are kicking me off net, but wanted to thank everyone for their comments. All good suggestions. Love on a Dime--that's on my list, too, Kaye. And so good to see you here. ProjectJournal-will have to check that out! Thanks, ladies for the comments on the LI Suspense series Protecting the Witness.

I'm off to Bolivia in a few weeks and then plan to read all six books in that wonderful Protecting the Witness series. I hear some good writers were involved.

Have a terrific time in Bolivia, Barbara!! You'll have to tell us all about it when you get back *wink*

Looks like a great list. I can't wait to get my hands on some of these. I just got my hands on Rogues, Riches and Retribution , and it was so good that I couldn't put it down.
