Christmas Story Part 3...

Zelda’s breath came in quick puffs and her hand covered her heart. What should she do?

Call the police and ask for a bomb squad?

Throw it in the nearest snow pile?

Take a deep breath and quit being paranoid?

Maybe she’d watched too many episodes of NCIS. Saw an exploding bomb behind every tick and tock. She studied the box. It looked so innocent with the big bow and seasonal wrapping paper.

A gift that ticked couldn’t be left to tock for seven days. Besides she’d already undo the bow. All that was left to do was throw the package in her car and take it to the police station. But as the box continued to tick she decided she wasn’t going to drive anywhere with it.

She sighed, the air coming from deep inside her.

That left her with only one option. She had to call her son. Tommy. He’d know what to do. She left the box on the front porch and headed inside. She stared at the phone. How sad was it she had to look up her own son’s phone number?

To be continued...

Was Tommy part of the police department? Could she really wait that long to get the police involved?

Was she estranged from her own son? What happened in their relationship? Where did things go wrong.

Why would she mess around about calling the police??? And I have the same questions as Linda.

I'm a wimp. I don't think I'd put the box in my car and drive it to the police station. And since I DO have an overactive imagination, I'd be convince there was a bomb in the box and I'd get out of the house and call the police on my cell phone. But like I said, I'm a wimp.

Well, I wouldn't trust Tommy. He doesn't sound like a good son. But then again, I wouldn't be thinking of a bomb, either. I say she open it!

Could always be an alarm clock!
But then again this is a suspense story so bomb is the most likely. can't wait for tomorrow! My question is how old is the son? Could be in college? Maybe she's had trouble with the police in the past?

Great turn in the story, Cara! Tommy is a great idea, seems the older a mom gets, the smarter the child becomes. Living alone does have it's drawbacks and how nice it would be to see her son again. What had kept them apart all this time? It's time to remedy the fact and make it a point to keep in better touch. What if Tommy doesn't want to come? Who else can Zelda turn to?

Maybe Tommy doesn't take good care of his cells and he loses his phone a lot. Or maybe he's buying Go phones so she never quite knows if his number will be the same. Or maybe they had a horrible fight and Christmas is not such a good time for poor Tommy. Can't wait to find out!

I agree. I can't wait to see how Tommy figures into all this!

I'm thinking of my house, I don't even think we have a clock that really ticks anymore. Hmmm, could be that progress will ruin this type of suspicious package gimmick.

I'm thinking why hasn't mom kept in touch with her son. And why call him?

I had to throw a curve ball in for those coming behind me. Tommy seems like the perfect twist :-)
