Continuity Series

I just got through writing not long ago with my book in the continuity series for Love Inspired Suspense for 2010. My book is the March one and it's called Cowboy Protector. I love that title, by the way. I have discovered some readers love these continuity series that are spread out over six books for Love Inspired Suspense. Some of the suspense threads aren't solve totally until the last book. Pieces of the puzzle are in each of the books and readers try to figure out the mystery/suspense in the series. Each book does have a romance that is completed by the end of the book and some suspense threads that are tied up--just not all of them. How do you feel about continuity series or even series where the same people appear but each book stands alone as far as the romance and suspense?

By the way Terri Reed this month wraps up this year's Love Inspired Suspense continuity series called Without a Trace. I wrote the first one in the series. It came out in January. The name of the books in the series in order are:
What Sarah Saw by Margaret Daley
Framed by Robin Caroll
Cold Case Murder by Shirlee McCoy
Cloud of Suspicion by Patricia Davids
Deadly Competition by Roxanne Rustand
Her Last Chance by Terri Reed

I have enjoyed reading the Reunion Revelations and Without a Trace series from Love Inspired Suspense. It sort of gives you a look at the big picture of a community and then the chance o see the smaller parts and how they fit together. Plus the chance to solve a bigger mystery and and smaller ones are a bonus. The writers involved do a great job. :)

I enjoy suspense continuities as long as the romance is completed in each book with the mystery carried on throughout each book until the end. I also enjoyed the Reunion Revelations continuity but haven't started on Without a Trace yet.

Thanks, Ellen and SketchGirl. That is the point of a continuity series. Some readers love them, others don't.

Margaret,
I'm thrilled to be writing book two in the 2010 Love Inspired Suspense continuity. My Feb '10 release is Killer Headline. I hope readers like the series ... women in danger, the Witness Protection Program, the Chicago Mafia, hunky heroes and beautiful heroines ... all the books are bound to be exciting reads!

I really enjoy reading continuity series--as long as I realize the book is part of one before I buy it! I picked up the third or fourth book in a series last year and was so disappointed that I'd started in the middle! My fault.

Here's the big question: will each book feature a hunky cowboy?? :)

Jill, I think my hero is the only hunky cowboy in next year's series but there are quite a few hunky FBI, police and US Marshals.

Thanks for the 'Without a Trace' list, as now I know which one to read first. Makes it more enjoyable. I'm amazed at how you can write a novel in a series like that and keep the continuity. Skill!!!
