Finished!!!

I'm finished with my Love Inspired Suspense for the next continuity in 2009!!!! My book is the first one in January 2009. It's called What Sarah Saw. Let me give you a hint. She saw too much. There is nothing better than finishing a book and sending it off. I had a huge smile on my face when I mailed it yesterday. You would have thought I won the lottery which would be impossible because I don't buy tickets.

But I'm already delving into my next Love Inspired Suspense called Poisoned Secrets which will be out in March 2009. It is the first in a new series about murder and mayhem. This is the best part of writing--plotting and putting together a new book. My mind is swirling with ideas and thoughts of what I'm gonna do with these characters. I find my ideas come at the oddest times. Yesterday I was driving to mail my other proposal and one popped into my mind. It was perfect for the opening. I can't wait to put it down on paper or rather up on the computer screen.

What are some scenes in suspense novels that have stuck in your mind? Or in a movie? One that has always stuck in mine was the scene from a movie with Audrey Hepburn. She was blind and someone was after her in her apartment. I knew the person was going to scare her, and I still jumped when it happened. Very suspenseful movie and I can't remember the name at the moment but I remember where I saw it--in a movie theater near campus. Wait! I think it may have been titled Wait Until Dark or something like that.

The other ladies who have a March Love Inspired Suspense book (Roxanne Rustand, Pamela Tracy, and Debby Giusti) out along with me are having a drawing for those books and a few extra goodies. The drawing is tomorrow, Sunday, so if you want to be entered in the drawing, leave your name and email in a comment on the blog.

Have a nice weekend.

Margaret I liked your comments. I have found that is the case with some of my book club memebers. They get derailed by a mistake in the book. You are right about sliding over it if the book is good.
Please enter my name into the drawing. Thanks

I'll definitely leave a comment here. I've never read the Suspense line before, but it sounds chilling!
congrats on finishing!

This sounds so exciting. As for your question about suspensful movies. Rear Window (gets me everytime. You know the bad guy is going to try to kill Jimmie Sterwart because he saw too much!! Pkease enter me in the drawing. I have recently stepped out of my comfortable chicklit box and now I really like suspence with a little romance of course.

Wow. There are so many great movies and books it's hard to choose. I love Alfred Hitchcock movies like North by Northwest and View from a Room. I also like things that have bizarre endings like Usual Suspects.

Oh yes, Margaret, I saw Wait Until Dark and have never, ever forgotten the tension in that entire movie.

Another classic is Psycho--the original one. Alford Hitchcock was a master of suspense. He could show you only tiny bits, never anything graphic, and those little, sneaky hints of what was to come would make you so tense you couldn't breath!

I can't think of any recent movies that reach that level of tension. Can you?

What a great topic.

Linda, I have to agree with you on Alfred Hitchcock. He knew how to put together a great suspense movie without the blood and gluts.

Hi Margaret, Congrats on getting your manuscript in the mail. That must be a wonderful feeling and then to have another story idea pop right up. Yeah.

Hmm, One of the movies that has stuck in my head a lot was Tears in the Sun. It had all the elements of great suspense. The hero was forced to do something so against his principals and of course it was to save the heroine so he had to do it.

Hi to my friends Debby and Tracy. You gals write great suspense. I loved Debby's MIA in Atlanta. Tracy always has wonderful suspense and so do you Margaret. I'll have to look for the other craftie books.

Happy writing. sandraleesmith@cox.net who always loves reading a good suspense.

Hi Margaret - Kudos to you on your books. I'd love to be in the drawing.

As for suspenseful movies - I remember Usual Suspects was a fun ride, trying to figure out the end. Those are the best kinds of movies. A silly example I remember is from Romancing the Stone. There's a scene where Kathleen Turner's cat is in a closet, you know it's going to scare her, but I jumped out of my seat anyway when it happened :-0 So great suspense doesn't have to be in a suspense movie.

As for books, well I can't read Stephen King (or similar) because my imagination is too vivid. I can watch movies/TV without trouble because no matter how good it is, I know it's not real. But I could never watch X-Files by myself - guess that was more real or something :-)I have read some books by "The Fab Four" and really enjoyed them, didn't want to put them down, etc. But didn't have to turn on all the lights. Maybe because I knew God was working through those stories.

I love all your examples of suspenseful movies and I agree about Stephen King. The Shining still gives me chills.

Hi, Margaret. Thanks for help in finding this area. I'd love to win a book. Please enter my name into the drawing. The most suspensful scene in a movie for me still has to be the shower scene in Physco. No lights to turn on as we were at the drive-in (yes, I'm that old!) My husband has a permanently disfigured thumb thants to that scene.

Thanks. Conni
