Radio...Book Release... and More!

This morning I was a guest on Steve Bonenberger's radio program. What fun. This is my third radio experience. I was a guest on Bookchat about seven years ago. Then, I actually did the voice on a radio commercial. Then, today, another author opportunity. First, Cara (waving at Thursday's Craftie Lady)alerted us to the opportunity. Then, I sent an email letting Steve know I was willing. He wrote back with a date (today) and time (10 a.m.). Date: good. Time: not so good. Steve is Pacific time: Pam is Mountain time, and not just any Mountain time. Arizona is the only state (Indiana used to help out but no more) that never changes its time. My first thought was that when it was 8 a.m. here, it would be 10 a.m. there. Steve, then, offered his opinion using guy speak. Finally, we figured out when it's 10 there; it's 10 here. :) Go figure. Steve also sent questions. I called this morning - got through - and we began. I received a minute to tell about me. Guess I'm not boring; I wanted more than a minute. We did defining moment: Think Montgomery Wards, computer area, promise to mother. We did developing ideas (Yikes, I'm a SOTPs writer - developing really isn't a word I'm comfortable with). We did my current book (Yeah! It releases tomorrow). We did ACFW, my next project, and finally a message to America (I really don't have a message except have fun and be real while you're writing). All in all, Steve made it really easy and enjoyable. He has the kind of voice and manner that puts a guest at ease.

And, yes! Broken Lullaby hits the shelves tomorrow. The four Craftie ladies would love to do a giveaway. Simple respond to our posts this week (Pam, Roxanne, Margaret, and Debby), we'll keep track of names. Then, we'll announce a winner. The winner will not only receive a book from each of us, but probably a bonus or two (think earlier books, think trinket that goes along with the book).

So, read, write, post to our blog, and think about YOUR radio interview.

Pam,
What a great experience on your radio splash. Glad to know when the books are out. I had Roxanne's on my list, and I'll add yours. I don't know how you do all you do. Boundless energy, I guess. I'm not surprised you found one minute not nearly long enough to encapsulate your life.

Pam, I would have been wracked with nerves, but you are such a natural! I guess my message to America would be to read, read, read. It heals the spirit and challenges the mind.

I can't wait to pick up my copy of Broken Lullaby. I love your title, by the way!

Thanks! I've added both your names to the drawing. And, a minute is tough. I need a minute to talk about Mikey!

Steve is a great host. The time flew during my interview.

Pam, You're such a fun speaker that I'm not suprised you had a great time! Congrats on all you ladies having releases at the same time!

Pamela, they should give you TEN minutes to talk about Mikey!

Laurie, wondering if blogging about him would have quite the same effect...

This is really cool. Cara, do you realize that since you posted YOU MIGHT WIN! hehehehe. So, since you've already done a radio interview with him, tell me how to find the interview. He tried to give me a connection, but I was holding the phone with my right hand, and writing the number with my left. I can't read what I wrote.

Pam,

You're on the radio! Good going. And what a good title-Broken Lullaby. Bound to be a draw. Your advice about being real when you write is sound, too. I'll look for your book and recommend it to my mystery loving friends, too.

Pam,
I'd love to hear your radio interview. Is there a website where we can hear the instant replay?

You must have quite an imagination to be able to write suspense! I also love your beautiful devotional book - a feast for the eyes as well as the soul!

Help with the acronyms! What is SOTPS and why does it make you shy away from the word "developing"? Who is ACFW and where can I learn more about them?

Congrats on the interview, Pam. As for the time zone thing, I thought I was the only one who had problems with it. I have to remember the old saying Spring Forward, Fall Back to remember which time zone we're supposed to be on. Mountain or California. (Of course I still put my hand across my chest to remember my right from my left, too).

Dana,
SOTPs means I'm a seat-of-the-pants writer. I don't plot ahead; the story comes as I write it. ACFW stands for American Christian Fiction Writers. It's the inspy version of RWA. We have a local chapter here in Phoenix. It meets every three months. Our next meeting is in April. Would you like me to send you info?

I recently read Gold in the Fire and was looking for more information on Margaret Daley and her books, and... look at where I wound up (after stopping at her website and her blog). I'm glad to have found you, and have added you to my links list at my main blog.

And good for you for getting through a radio interview. I've been interviewed a few times, and my voice has a tendency to go monotone when I'm nervous. Ugh.

Pam, yes please send me the ACFW info. Thanks! Now I'm going to try to track down your radio interview...

WOW, the chance to be a guest on a radio program!! I'd be too scared to speak and no one would be able to see my saucer-eyes to know what was wrong.
I do know people who can carry on a conversation, be interesting, AND hold people's attention. Sounds like you are one of those, for sure.
Thanks for sharing, it was fun to read about. I'm curious about ACFW being your next project. What is it that you are going to do?

Pam,
In looking at my original post, it sure does read like ACFW might be my next project - LOL - but no. We talked about my next project which is my Jan. 2009 book Daddy for Keeps. Then we talked about ACFW. We ended the chat with the message to America. So, the commas meant list of three instead of appostive. Have a great day!

I didn't think to mention I was entering this week's contest, should I have? Please enter me. I commented above. Thanks.

Yeah, radio shows aren't in my future plans. *G* I think I'd freeze up. I bought Broken Lullaby's this week and can't wait to read it.
