Her Last Chance Interview

Today we're welcoming Leah Farley, the heroine of Her Last Chance: Book six of the Without A Trace continuity series, by Terri Reed . Wow, you've just had quite an adventure.

1. Tell us a little about yourself and how you came to be in the midst of such suspense.
Well, it’s hard to say how it all came about. I awoke one stormy day in a ditch with no memory of how I got there or who I was. Then a bounty hunter showed claiming I was Leah Farley and telling me I was a wanted for murder. Next thing we know someone’s shooting as us, trying to kill me.

2. So, during the book you met Roman Black. Tell us a bit about him. What was your first impression? When did you know it was love?
Roman was very intimidating at first. Especially when he thought I was a murderer but then he stunned me by deciding to protect until he knew who wanted me dead. I think in that moment I knew he was a special man, but it took awhile for me to trust my heart.

3. What strengths/skills do you have? What is your greatest weakness?
My greatest strength is my faith. Even though I couldn’t remember who I was or my life before, I had a deep faith.I can only guess bad judgment was my greatest weakness before I lost my memory. Now my greatest weakness is impatience with myself and my memory loss.

4. What scares you?
The thought of losing my daughter. Again. And the thought of what Roman will do when he finds the man responsible for his mother’s death.

5. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?I’d like to have my memory back fully.

6. Where are you in your faith at the start of your story?
As I said, I awoke with my faith intact. I don’t know how or why, but I know God lives in my heart and I trust him.

7. Where are you in your faith at the end of the story?
Stronger though I have to try to stop asking why this happened to me.

8. You've got a scripture at the beginning of the story. Tell us why this scripture is significant.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not calamity, to give you a future and a hope.
Jeremiah 29:11

This verse gives me strength. I know that God is at work in my life even though I can’t see it or it doesn’t feel like it. He has given me and everyone this promise. I cling to that.

9. If you could be a dessert what would you be and why?Strawberry/rhubarb pie. A little sweet, a little tart and always delicious.

I hope everyone will enjoy the conclusion to the Without a Trace series.

A Cloud of Suspicion Interview

Happy Easter, everyone. Today we're welcoming Patrick Rivers, the hero of A Cloud of Suspicion, Book four of the Without A Trace continuity by Patricia Davids, an April 09 release from Love Inspired Suspense. Wow, you've just had quite an adventure.

1. Tell us a little about yourself and how you came to be in the midst of such suspense.

Thanks for having me here. How did I end up in the midst of such suspense? I’m still asking myself that. I had no intention of ever returning to Loomis, Louisiana, but recently my step-father passed away. To my surprise, his will stipulated that I had to return to Loomis in person to settle the estate if I wanted any of the proceeds. I don’t understand why he did that. We weren’t close. I’d like to think he was trying to make up for the way he treated me after I was accused of rape ten years ago. I guess I’ll never really know. God moves in mysterious ways.

2. So, during the book you met Shelby Mason. Tell us a bit about her.
Shelby is simply the greatest. We actually first met back in college. She worked at the school library. She was something of a mouse back then, but she loved books. It was something we had in common. My mother was a book collector before she died.
I met Shelby again the first day I was back in Loomis. What a shock! She had turned out to be quite a beauty. No man alive could forget those eyes.
I knew I wouldn’t be welcome in Loomis because of the old rape charge hanging over my head, but when I saw Shelby again, she was brave enough to ignore the looks and the whispers and talk to me like I was nothing more than an old friend come back for a visit. I think I fell in love with her right that minute, but it was weeks before I could admit that. After all, I didn’t intend to stay in Loomis. But when I saw someone was trying to hurt Shelby, I had to stay and protect her.

3. What strengths/skills do you have? What is your greatest weakness?
I’d have to say my greatest strength is my dogged determination. I worked hard to get to the top my profession. I design motorcycle. My greatest weakness has to be the fact that I don’t trust people easily.

4. What scares you?

Nothing much. Okay, I’m scared of letting my friends down. I don’t have many and they mean a lot to me.

5. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I think I’d like to be more outgoing. Shelby has that gift.

6. Where are you in your faith at the start of your story?

I didn’t have much in the way of faith when I first came back to Loomis. I blamed God for the things that had gone wrong in my life. I figured I’d do better depending on myself instead of some unseen force.

7. Where are you in your faith at the end of the story?

I think I’m back on the right path. Shelby helped me to see that if a guy blames God for the things that go wrong, he also has to give Him credit for the things that go right. I’d never looked at it that way before. I’m open now to learning about what God wants me to do with my life.

8. You've got a scripture at the beginning of the story. Tell us why this scripture is significant.
Psalms 86:7 In the day of my trouble I will call upon thee: for thou wilt answer me.
It’s one of Shelby’s favorite bible verses. She’s clinging to the hope that her missing friend Leah will be found safe and sound. Shelby's faith is rock solid. I deeply admire that about her.

9. If you could be a dessert what would you be and why?

Pardon my laugh, but no one has ever asked me that before. What kind of dessert would I be? I guess I’d want to be a chocolate brownie. Plain, simple, no frills, but yummy. That’s me.

This installment of the Without A Trace series sounds exciting.

Cold Case Murder Interview

Today we're welcoming Jodie Gilmore, the heroine of Cold Case Murder; book three of the Without A Trace continuity series, by Shirlee McCoy, March 2009. Wow, you've just had quite an adventure.

1. Tell us a little about yourself and how you came to be in the midst of such suspense.
I grew up in Loomis, Louisiana, and spent most of my childhood planning my escape. When I finally got my dream job as an FBI agent, it never occurred to me that I’d be sent back to my home town. I guess God has a sense of humor, because that’s exactly where my first assignment took me. I was supposed to serve as liaison between the locals and the FBI while I helped solve a missing persons case. Instead I got pulled neck deep into a decades old case that forced me to face my past and deal with it.

2. So, during the book you met Harrison Cahill. Tell us a bit about him. Harrison is a forensic anthropologist. The FBI brought him in to help identify the remains of two murder victims. What was your first impression? I wasn’t impressed and neither was he. Harrison thought I was too green an agent to be of much benefit to the case. I thought he was bossy and rude.
When did you know it was love?
When I realized that Harrison accepted me for who I was. I’d never had that before with anyone.

3. What strengths/skills do you have?
I’m independent and strong. I know how to get a job done. What is your greatest weakness? That I don’t want to ask for help. That I’d rather face things alone than rely on the people who care about me. I’ve had to learn that leaning on someone doesn’t make me weak. It makes me doubly strong.

4. What scares you?
The thought that I could turn out like my father – cold, hard and bitter, with little love for those around me.

5. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
That’s a hard one. I’d want to change the resentment I had for my mother for most of my life. I’ve wasted a lot of energy on anger.

6. Where are you in your faith at the start of your story?
I believe in God, but do not have a relationship with Him.

7. Where are you in your faith at the end of the story?
The journey I make helps me realize that God wants to be more than just a word in my vocabulary. He wants to have a relationship with me because He loves me just as I am.

8. You've got a scripture at the beginning of the story. Tell us why this scripture is significant.
Galatians 5:1 says that we should stand firm and not let ourselves be burdened again by the yoke of slavery. I was a slave to my anger and disappointments. Through Christ, I have been freed to live a life of joy. When I find myself slipping back into old habits of thought and action, I remember the truth of that verse.

9. If you could be a dessert what would you be and why? A twelve scoop sundae because it’s a dessert that can be shared by many, and I’d want to be something that brings people together.
